Our experienced events organiser Lindsey Hunter can bring your celebration ideas to life, whether you are arranging an event just for two or for 100. From your initial enquiry to the end of the event, our friendly Scottish hospitality and wealth of knowledge will ensure that everything runs smoothly. We can help you arrange transport, menus, entertainment and professional photography – and much more.

Birthday Parties

The Buccleuch Arms Hotel is the most centrally located birthday party venue in the Scottish Borders. Whether celebrating an 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th or a 60th – or any other Birthday that is special to you, The Buccleuch Arms can create a party that you, your family and your friends will remember forever. For parties of ten or more, let us treat the birthday girl or boy with a free meal, a helium balloon, some party poppers and a free glass of fizz.

Christening and baptism parties

Celebrate your new arrival in style at The Buccleuch Arms. We can create unique christening and baptism parties and provide you with a wide choice of dining experiences and menu options. Buffets with whole salmon, cold meats and delicious salads are a popular choice. For a more formal feel a set three course menu is an option and for really informal dining we offer a really tasty barbeque menu.

The Blue Room restaurant seats 30 and has an adjoining door out to a large enclosed garden, perfect for the children to let off some steam. The garden is suitable for a marquee and we have a gazebo available for drinks on the lawn. The Salmon Room is perfect for larger numbers of guests (up to 100) and has its’ own very pretty private enclosed courtyard with picnic bench seating.

Turn your celebration into a weekend break for the close family and friends. The Buccleuch has 19 ensuite bedrooms and babysitting services can be arranged in advance, to ensure parents can enjoy a bit of downtime too.

Funeral Wakes

If you have recently suffered a bereavement and are looking for a venue to give your loved one a memorable and fitting farewell. Our function suite, The Salmon Room caters for up 120 and has the advantage of having a private courtyard entrance, a separate fully stocked bar, private washrooms, and of course its own car park. The room is simple, beautiful and contemporary.

The Salmon Room has a hearing loop system and a PA system if required. A digital projector can be hired to project photos and memories onto a screen.

As a venue for a post-funeral wake, The Salmon Room is conveniently located in the village of St. Boswells and is within easy reach of many of the Borders churches. We are an hour from the crematoriums in Edinburgh.

We have exclusive menu options available for functions to suit all budgets and tastes. We take great pride in sourcing our ingredients from the Scottish Borders wherever possible.

We have also sympathetically refurbished the lounge at the front of the Hotel along with the adjoining meeting room. The two rooms have a peaceful, luxurious feel, and used together can also create the perfect setting for a more intimate and smaller funeral tea.
