Fishing

Salmon and trout fishing is available on the world famous River Tweed which is just minutes from the Buccleuch Arms Hotel door. The season here is one of the longest, running from 1st February until the 30th November and with prior notice we can arrange a day's fishing and equipment hire.

The River Tweed has always been internationally famous for its salmon fishing, with people coming from all over the world to fish it.

After three record breaking years, not only does Tweed catch more Atlantic salmon than any other river in the European Union, but it also now ranks among the very top salmon rivers in the world.

The Buccleuch Arms Hotel is an ideal base for fishing in the Scottish Borders and River Tweed. If you need to practise we will arrange instruction from a ghillie and secure storage for all equipment as well as drying facilities are available.

What they say about us...

"I just thought I would write a quick note to thank you for such a lovely stay, being in the trade ourselves, many pubs and hotels can be a bit of a let down as their standards aren't the same, but at the Buccleuch we felt completely relaxed and comfortable. The meal we had in the restaurant, and the breakfast could not be faulted, and the refurbished room was lovely and very peaceful! We will certainly pass on our recommendation to our own customers and good luck for the future."
